PURCHASE, N.Y. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team dictated the pace of play all Sunday afternoon, coming out of Manhatanville with a 3-1 victory, Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks outshot the Valiants 23-3 overall and 11-1 in shots on net. The Hawks had 16 penalty corners in the match to Manhattanville's seven.
Brooklyn Cenatiempo (Trumbull, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game, after
Kelly Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.) put a ball across cage, Cenatiempo then dove, tipping the ball into the left side of the net, 7:29 into the contest.
In the 6:30 into the second quarter, the Valiants leveled the match at 1-1 when Ava Panzer found Alyssa Monahan for a goal.
After the halftime break,
Ella Waryas (Foxboro, Mass.) put a ball through traffic, into the stick of
Morgan Foley (Hanover, Mass.) who was able to sore just under 10 minutes into the half.
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) then found
Elizabeth Duquette (Pittsford, N.Y.) for a goal, with 5:27 remaining in the contest, off a penalty corner.
Roger Williams (8-6, 1-3 CCC) will host Connecticut College on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 pm. The Hawks will then play at Gordon on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 pm.
