BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team dropped a non-conference clash with Connecticut College on Tuesday night at Bayside Field, falling to the Camels, 2-1.
The Hawks offense was unable to put a shot on net until the second half of action, as the Camels offense was held to five shots on net in the contest.
Hannah Brazil (East Sandwich, Mass.) made three saves in net.
After playing to a scoreless draw in the first half, the Camels broke through in the third quarter, scoring 7:41 into the half, when Kendall Arnold fired a shot by Brazil, as Conn. College took a 1-0 lead.
The Camels struck again when Bridget Mason, found Kylee Quinn on a penalty corner 3:35 into the fourth quarter of play. The Hawks then struck after a found in the scoring area, put
Hunter Phillips (Schuylerville, N.Y.) in front of the goalkeeper on a penalty stroke, which she buried.
The Hawks had a pair of shot opportunities saved by the Camel goalie, but were unable to force overtime as they eventually fell, 2-1.
Roger Williams (8-7, 1-3 CCC) will face CCC foe Gordon on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 pm, in Wenham, Mass. The Hawks will then play at Wheaton on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 pm, before hosting in-state Salve Regina in a CCC contest Friday, Oct. 28 which will also serve as the Hawks' Senior Day.
