SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team was outshot by Western New England, but held the Golden Bears off the scoresheet, with the Hawks coming out with a 1-0 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

Jack Avellar (Orleans, Mass.) kept the Western New England offense at bay, making eight saves on the eight Golden Bear shots that he faced.
The Hawks finally broke through in the 30
th minute of play when
Matt Bagley (Trumbull, Conn.) played a ball towards the center of the box,
Javi Beltran (Madrid, Spain) was able to play the ball, firing a shot into the back of the net.
The Hawks' defense was able to hold on in the second half, with Avellar making three saves in the second half, including a save off a Nick Guidi shot in the 88
th minute of play, holding the Golden Bears off the scoreboard.
Roger Williams (11-2-4, 6-1-1 CCC) remain tied with Endicott with a game remaining for each team at the top of the CCC standing, with the Golden Bears currently slated for third. Roger Williams will round out regular season play on Tuesday, Oct. 25 against Nichols, the Hawks will celebrate their seniors in a pre-match ceremony.
