Norton, Mass. — The Roger Williams University field hockey team took the win over Wheaton, 1-0, on Tuesday evening in non-conference play at Nordin Turf.
The Hawks outshot the Lyons 28-2 overall. Roger Williams put 18 shots on net, while keeping it clean for
Hannah Brazil (East Sandwich, Mass.) in goal and not allowing Wheaton to put a shot on net.
Brooklyn Cenatiempo (Trumbull, Conn.) put 6 shots on target while
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) put 5 of her 6 attempts on cage, including the game-winning goal, assisted by
Kelly Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.).
After three scoreless quarters,
King pulled through, scoring at the beginning of the 4
th quarter.
Doherty put the ball across the net to
King, who put the shot in from the right side. This was the lone goal allowed by Wheaton goalie Emma Lapreziosa.
Roger Williams (10-7, 2-3 CCC) will host Salve Regina on Friday, Oct. 28
th at 4 pm to close out the regular season. The Hawks will recognize their seniors in a pre-game ceremony.
