BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's volleyball team dropped the season finale Saturday at Tansey Gymnasium to the Wentworth Leopards, falling in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-14).
Kristen Dansereau (Killingworth, Conn.) led the Hawks with seven kills, while
Ava Mattiucci (North Kingston, R.I.) adding three aces along with
Lily Winsten (Rockledge, Fla.). Mattiucci also recorded nine assists. Defensively
Jasmine Babbitt (Charlestown, R.I.) had three blocks, while
Rachel Borzone (Syosset, N.Y.) recorded seven digs.
In the opening set the Hawks trailed 16-14, before the Leopards won nine out of the next 12 points. Wentworth then continued to roll, jumping out to an early 17-3 lead. Trailing 24-9, the Hawks scored six straight points before the Leopards were able to close out the set.
Wentworth used a nine-point run in the third set to take control, as they closed out the victory.
Roger Williams closes their season with a 5-20 record and a 1-8 record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
