Field Hockey: Offense Continues to Roll as Hawks Down UMass Dartmouth

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team took a break from Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Monday night at Bayside Field, hosting UMass Dartmouth for a non-conference matchup, winning, 5-0.

The Hawks offense assisted on four of their five goals in the matchup including a pair of Assists by Sara Carney (Franklin, Mass.).  The Hawks had five different goal scorers in the matchup, while outshooting UMass Dartmouth 15-1, in shots on net.

Roger Williams got things started early with a goal by Kelly Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.) just 31 seconds into the matchup.  The Hawks then scored 2:33 later, when Carney found Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) open on a pass, that King then put past the Corsair goalkeeper.

Carolyn Bauman (Westbrook, Conn.) kept things rolling in the second quarter, when Carney received a corner that she then passed over to Bauman shortly after, giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Morgan Foley (Hanover, Mass.) then got on the board after a pass across the net by Ella Waryas (Foxboro, Mass.) was sent in across the net, that Foley tipped in, in the third quarter.  In the Final frame the Hawks scored inside the final four minutes when Lauren Costanzo (North Andover, Mass.) found Kailey Daddona for the first goal of Daddona's collegiate career.

Roger Williams (7-3, 1-2 CCC) will be back in action on Wednesday Oct. 5 when they host Wesleyan in non-conference play at 7 pm. They will then host the University of New England for a CCC tilt on Saturday, Oct. 8.
