BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team, defeated Wentworth 2-1 Saturday Afternoon at Sweeney Field.
The Hawks outshot the Leopards 17-8, and 9-5 in shots on net as they remained unbeaten in conference play.
The Hawks broke through in the 20
th minute when
John McCarthy (Hampstead, N.H.) scored off a ricocheted shot attempt by
Justin Horvath (Stratford, Conn.) taking a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second half Christopher Jimenez then scored when Nick Lenz found him open on the other side of the net, sliding a pass to him. Less than three minutes later McCarthy scored for the second time of the game and fourth of the season, when
CJ Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) threw the ball in deep, and McCarthy buried it in the left corner.
Roger Williams (0-1-3, 4-0-0 CCC) will host Curry on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 pm, before facing Endicott Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3 pm for Homecoming Saturday.
