BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's tennis team picked up their seventh 9-0 victory Saturday afternoon at the Roger Williams University Tennis Courts, against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Western New England.
In doubles play the No. 2 Doubles team of
Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) and
Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) picked up the first point of the day with an 8-0 win, followed by the No. 3 doubles team of
Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and
Kate Hardy (Southington, Conn.) who defeated their opponents 8-1. Rounding out doubles play,
Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) and
Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) combined for an 8-7 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Singles play got started with Pecora picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win, before Ferraro earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 singles spot for the clinching point.
Santoro then defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and McCarthy added another point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. A win by 6-4, 6-2 win by Cahoon at No. 2 singles, set up the 6-2, 6-4 No. 6 singles victory by
Lily Creem (Manhasset, N.Y.) rounded out the match.
Roger Williams (11-0, 6-0 CCC) will host Endicott on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 4 pm on the RWU Tennis Courts. They will then host Emerson on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 4 pm for Senior Day, before beginning CCC Tournament play the following week.
