BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger William University men's basketball team took the win over Wheaton College on Tuesday evening, 74-71.
The Hawks started off strong with
Nate Lopes (Scituate, Mass.) and
Max Manjos (Monroe, Conn.) each sinking layups in the first two minutes of the game. Lopes went on to score a total of 17 throughout the game.
John Ah Kao (Dumont, N.J.) was another top scorer in the game, earning a total of 20 points for the Hawks with 14 of those happening in the first half. Roger Williams was up at halftime, with Wheaton not far behind, 38-35.
Lopes wasted no time at the beginning of the second half, being the first to score in the second as well. Play was close between Wheaton and Roger Williams. The teams were tied with 14 minutes left in the half when
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) sank a 3-point shot, assisted by
Nate Mullen (Cape Elizabeth, Maine), to bring the Hawks ahead yet again. The Hawks were able to say ahead the rest of the game.
The Roger Williams men's basketball team (2-1,0-0 CCC) will next face Clark University on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. They will then play in their first conference game of the season at Nichols on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
