Men’s Lacrosse Wins Third Consecutive Game Behind Season-High Scoring Output

BIDDEFORD, ME – The Roger Williams University Men's Lacrosse team dominated the University of New England, 18-10 at Blue Bolt Field on Saturday afternoon. Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.) and Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) each finished the day with five goals as the Hawks pulled away early in the second quarter.

How It Happened
The Hawks got off to an early start in this one with Noah Ravas (Baldwinsville, N.J.) scoring his first of the game two minutes in with Matt Halpin (Hanover, Mass.) assisting to pick up the first of his six helpers. The Nor'easters answered back to tie it up at one thirty seconds later with Jack Martin's (Marion, Mass.) first goal. Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.) came back and scored his first of five but was countered by Alden Balboni (Oakland, Maine) and Sam McGregor (Dedham, Mass.) for UNE's first and only lead of the day. RWU took over in the last six minutes scoring four straight with one by AJ DaRin (Manlius, N.Y.), two from Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.), and one from Jack Kester (Londonderry, NH).
 
Roger Williams came out hot in the second scoring four more unanswered goals to bring the lead to 10-3 with the scoring coming from Jared Grier's third, two tallies from Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.), and one from Sean Tyldesley (Grafton, Mass.). The Nor'easters hit back with four goals of their own starting off with Jordan White (Verdes, Calif.), Colin Watt (Somers, Conn.), then Ryan Hazard (Milford, Mass.), and Martin picking up his second of the day to cut the lead to three with just under three minutes to go in the first half. To end out the half Matt Halpin answered the UNE run with a goal with just over a minute left to stretch their lead to 11-7.
 
Roger Williams came out strong again in the start of the second half scoring five goals in the first eight minutes with an early goal from Jack Kester giving him his second on the day assisted by Matt Halpin giving him his third assist. Tim Mullane then added to the Hawks lead scoring his fourth of the day also assisted by Matt Halpin. To extend the Hawks lead to 15-7, Jared Grier scored his fourth and fifth goals within forty seconds of each other and Ryan Vendetti (Farmington, Conn.) scored his first of the game, assisted by Ravas who finished with four assists.
 
UNE struggled with penalties in the third quarter as the Hawks were able to take advantage and score four goals a man up. At the end of third quarter Jordan White answered the five straight from the Hawks along with the Ryan Vendetti scoring his second of the game with nineteen seconds left to go to bring the score to 17-8.
 
With a nine-goal lead at the start of the final frame, the Hawks still came out strong and stretched it to ten early in the quarter with Mullane picking up his fifth goal of the game and Halpin getting his sixth assist. RWU was not able to put together any more offense the rest of the quarter as the Nor'easters wound up answering as Balboni scored his second goal of the game with just over ten minutes to go and Andrew Lawrence (North Yarmouth, Maine) scoring with eight and half minutes left to go. Both teams went scoreless in the last eight minutes of the game as the Hawks were able to finish the game out winning 18-10.
