How It Happened
Clark struck first in the opening quarter with Steve Calone scoring two minutes into the game.
Ryan Lawrence (Fairfield, Conn.) would knot the game up less than a minute later for the Hawks, followed by a
Ryan Phillips (Hanover, Mass.) goal two minutes later to give RWU the lead. That would be the only goals scored in the quarter as Roger Williams took a 2-1 advantage into the second.
The Cougars went back on top with back-to-back goals by John D'Eufemia and Attillo LaVecchia. A tally by
Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.) made it a three-all game with 7:04 left in the half. Grier would later score with 55 seconds left to put the Hawks up by one entering the break.
Roger Williams outscored Clark 4-0 in the third quarter to take a five-goal lead. Phillips and
Noah Ravas (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) each scored twice in the quarter to extend RWU's advantage. With an 8-3 lead going into the final quarter, the Hawks had enough breathing room to claim the win. Despite a pair of goals by Clark in the period, Phillips, Grier and
Jack Kester (Londonderry, N.H.) all scored to help push the Hawks to the win.
