How It Happened
It was an even matchup for the first seven minutes of the first quarter until Endicott started off by scoring four goals in a span of the following two minutes to claim the lead. Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.) scored the ice breaker and immediately after that, Domenic Russo (Northborough, Mass.) was able to put a pair of tallies on the board before Domenic Valera (Fitchburg, Mass.) capped the rally.
Noah Ravas (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) had a response, finally putting the Hawks on the board with two and a half minutes left in the opening frame. After an offside penalty late in the stanza, RWU was a man up when
Jack Kester (Londonderr y, N.H.) found the back of the net, assisted by
Jared Grier (Quincy, Mass.), cutting the lead down to a pair with a little under a minute to go in the quarter.
AJ DaRin (Manlius, N.Y.) scored to open the second, assisted by
Tim Mullane (Hanover, Mass.), shaving the deficit to one in the process. Michael Hauptman (Medford, Mass.) answered for the Gulls a minute later before Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) added another to make the advantage, 6-3 with six minutes left in the half. The Hawks answered back with three goals, two of them by Kester. His first was assisted by
Brian Gazard (Ashland, Mass.) before
Ryan Phillips (Hanover, Mass.) got in on the fun with a man up score after a slashing penalty. Kester concluded the half getting to a first-half hat trick with just three seconds left, assisted by DaRin, evening things at six all in the process.
After tying the game up late in the second quarter, the Hawks came out firing with two quick goals in the third. Ravas scored his second of the game assisted by Mullane then Grier gave the visitors an 8-6 lead moments later. The Gulls answered back less than a minute later with Russo joining Kester with a trio of tallies then Pagluiso tied things up shortly thereafter. Grier came back with his second of the game to retake the lead with less than a minute remaining in the frame. However, Hauptman answered for the Gulls once again, evening things with five seconds to go.
The fourth quarter was a different story as Endicott shutout RWU. They were able to score a goal 22 seconds into the frame after a slashing penalty leading to Max Kesicki (Katonah, N.Y.) tally, taking the lead in the process and they would never look back. A couple minutes later the Gulls doubled their lead with another goal by Valera giving him his second of the game. As the quarter went on the Hawks struggled to get any offensive game going. Meanwhile, Endicott kept humming along as Craig Claflin (Natick, Mass.) and Abate each scored two more to extend the edge to four with four minutes left in the game. In the end Endicott outscored RWU 4-0 in the final quarter and scored five unanswered goals overall to make the Hawks early comeback a moot point, and Roger Williams fell, 13-9.
