BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team picked up their fourth straight win to open the season, tying the program's best mark to start the season, Wednesday at Bayside Field against Westfield State, 5-0.
The Hawks defense held the Owls to three shots, while the Hawks put 10 of their 12 shots on net.
In the first quarter,
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) received a pass from
Kelly Doherty (Mansfield, Mass.), that King fired into the back of the net. The Hawks struck again less than five minutes later when,
Hannah Timbrouck (Kingston, N.Y.) scored off the receiving end of a
Sara Carney (Franklin, Mass.) pass.
In the second quarter
Carolyn Bauman (Westbrook, Conn.) got on the board for her first goal of the season, followed by Timbrouck's second goal of the season.
Doherty then scored with 4:55 left in the contest.
Roger Williams (4-0, 0-0 CCC) begins conference play on Saturday, Sept. 17 against Endicott on Bayside Field with a 1 pm start time. The Hawks will then travel to Eastern Connecticut State for a Wednesday, Sept. 21 non-conference contest.
