BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's tennis team picked up another win Thursday afternoon at the Roger Williams Tennis Courts, defeating the Bridgewater State, 9-0.
The Hawks swept doubles play, including a team of
Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Kate Hardy (Southington, Conn.) finishing in third doubles match, 8-2. The second doubles team earned an 8-1 win before the first doubles team of
Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) and
Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) finished their third doubles, winning 8-4.
In the singles portion of play Santoro earned a win in sixth singles, 6-1, 6-1, before
Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) picked up her win in fifth singles 6-0, 6-0, clinching the winning point of the match.
Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, N.H.) earned a 6-2, 6-1 finish in second singles before Cahoon, Place, and
Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) each took a straight set victory in their matches.
Roger Williams (5-0, 1-0 CCC) hosts Gordon on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 12 pm. The Hawks will then host Nichols on Tuesday, Sept. 20 before hosting UMass Boston on Thursday, Sept. 22.
