BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University women's tennis team gained yet another victory in their match against Gordon, ending the afternoon at 9-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play..
In the doubles matches the Hawk's third doubles pair Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) finished first, dominating the court and ending the match at 8-0. They were followed by the second doubles team, made up of Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) and Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) also swept their opponents, 8-0.Then Emma Place (Francestown, N.H.) and Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.), the first doubles pairing, finished their match at 8-2.
Santoro won her sixth singles match 6-0, 6-0, before Cahoon took the victory in the third singles matchup 6-1, 6-0.
In the same fashion Pecora swept the competition in the fifth singles match winning 6-0, 6-0. Then Ferraro gained a 6-1, 6-0 victory in second singles.
McCarthy was the third player to win her singles match 6-0, 6-0, while Place finished off strong, winning in first singles play.
Roger Williams (6-0, 2-0 CCC) hosts Nichols for a CCC match on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 4 pm for their next conference matchup. They take on UMass Boston on Thursday, Sept. 22. The Hawks will then go against Salve Regina on Saturday, Sept. 24.
