BRISTOL, R.I. — The Roger Williams University men's soccer team fell to the No. 4 team in the United Soccer Coaches Region II Poll, falling to WPI 5-0 on Tuesday night at Bayside Field.
The Hawks made a valiant effort, outnumbering WPI in shot attempts, 20-13, but were unable to get past WPI goalkeeper Roe Hendrick, who picked up the win.
WPI scored in the 12
th minute and Anthony Previte scored 24:01 into the contest after Francesco Valagussa sent a pass into him. Valagussa scored in the 30
th minute, closing out the first half with a 3-0 lead.
The Engineers scored a pair of goals in the second half before eventually closing out the contest with the win.
Roger Williams (5-1-2, 1-0-0 CCC) picks up their first loss of the season. The Hawks next contest will come on Saturday, Sept. 24 against Gordon at 12 pm. On Tuesday, Sept. 27 Roger Williams will visit Bridgewater State.
