BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's tennis team completed their first dual match of the season, coming away with a 9-0 victory on the Roger Williams University Tennis Courts, 9-0.
After starting the match with a 2-0 advantage, the Hawks earned a pair of points in doubles play at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles with the team of
Jon Treventhan (Berlin, Conn.) and
Ryan Carrol (Holden, Mass.) winning 8-1, and
Alex Smith (Bedford, N.H.) and
Steven Mathew (Bayport, N.Y.) earning an 8-0 victory.
Treventhen and Carroll both earned victories in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, before
Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 win in No. 3 singles.
Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) and
Ryan Schuck (Glastonbury, Conn.) also picked up wins in the match, as the Hawks earned the sweep.
Roger Williams (1-0, 0-0 CCC) will face Stonehill in a non-conference match on Sunday, Oct. 2 match that is currently slated to end the fall slate of contests.
