BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University women's tennis team took control early in an 8-1 win over Curry on Wednesday at the RWU Tennis Courts, downing the Colonels, 8-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.
Olivia Santoro (Cheshire, Conn.) and
Gracie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) picked up an 8-0 win over their No. 2 doubles opponents.
Ella Mancini (Middlebury, Conn.) and
Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) then earned an 8-0 win at the No. 3 doubles position, before
Gianna Ferraro (Westerly, R.I.) and
Alessia Cahoon (Dedham, Mass.) took an, 8-3, win over their opponents at No. 1 doubles.
After a win by Mancini, with a 6-0, 6-0, win in the No. 6 singles sport, Pecora added a point from a No. 3 singles win to clinch the match.
The Hawks took the next three matches, with Santoro, McCarthy, and Cahoon earning victories, before Sasha Borkov took the win in No. 1 singles.
Roger Williams (11-3, 4-2 CCC) will take part in the CCC Tournament, where they are currently awaiting the drawing for the bracket.
