BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team claimed a 3-1 victory against Western New England on Saturday at Bayside Field, 1-1-1, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.
The Hawks' first goal came in the 14
th minute off a cross from
John Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.) to freshman forward
Dylan Thomas (Norwalk, Conn.) who scored off a header.
The Golden Bears quickly evened out the score from a free kick taken by Shay O'Neill that reached the head of Jonathan Xavier for the games second header of the day.
The 26
th minute saw the Hawks second goal come from build up play between
Matt Bagley (Trumbull, Conn.) and
Dylan Robbins (Johnston, R.I.) who then slipped the ball to Thomas for his second goal of the match, and his first career multi goal game.
Bagley scored the third and final goal of the match off a miscue from the WNE goal keeper securing the go-a-head goal for the Hawks in the 32
nd minute.
Roger Williams (3-3-6, 1-1-1 CCC) will play at Wheaton College in a non-conference match-up on Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2:00 pm. The Hawks will then return to CCC play when they travel to Nichols on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 3:00 pm.
