MILTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's basketball team defeated Curry on Tuesday evening at Katz Gymnasium, 91-74, using a 50-point second half to close out the victory.
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) tallied 21 points, shooting .600 from the field, Annus also grabbed four rebounds, and dished out an assist with a block.
Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) earned a double-double with fourteen points and 15 rebounds, Miller also dished out seven assists.
After the first half was played to a 38-37 lead for the Hawks, with both teams unable to separate more than a four-point Curry lead with 3:19 left in the opening half, the Hawks maintained their lead going back and forth with neither team creating separation until the 14:24 mark of the second half.
The Hawks saw Annus finish a layup, and knock down the free throw attempt, before Curry's Nick Johnson leveled the score with a three. Roger Williams then went on a 9-1 run, that gave the Hawks a 63-54 lead with 10:57 remaining.
Roger Williams only expanded the lead, growing it to as many as 17 in the win.
Roger Williams (3-5, 3-0 CCC) will host Fitchburg State on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1:00 pm. Then Hawks will then face Salve Regina on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1:00 pm in the Rogers Center.
