BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University women's basketball team faced off against Endicott for another Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup Tuesday evening in the Campus Rec Center finishing with, 58-35, win.
Caroline Elie (Rockland, Mass.) lead the Hawks with 13 points with a 5-7 shooting performance during her time on the court. She also collected five rebounds and three assists. Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.) also finished the matchup with 13 points while creating three assists, as well as bringing down six boards. Sophie Araneo (Branford, Conn.) finished the match with a total of seven rebounds.
Sarah Dempsey led the Gulls with 12 points and four rebounds, while Tara Laugeni added a team-high five boards and a pair of points on the board for the Gulls. Emily St. Thomas added eight points on the night.
To start the game Endicott and Roger Williams won the tip off with a layup in the paint to put the Hawks up by two in the opening seconds. Nearing the end of the first, Roger Williams led by six before a jumper and free throw cut the lead down to four to end the frame.
The Hawks led by nine with just under six minutes remaining in the half, before the Gulls were able to cut the lead down to two. Roger Williams was able to extend their lead again outscoring Endicott, 10-2, over the final 2:02 of the half.
After outscoring the Gulls again in the third, 16-8, the Hawks grew their lead out to 30-points after a 13-point run, their largest lead of the game. Reese Codero (Whitman, Mass.) put up the last pair of points for the game with one second left, as the Hawks led the Hawks the win.
Roger Williams (21-3, 17-0 CCC) will host Nichols in the Campus Rec Center Saturday, Feb. 18. Tip off time is at 1 pm, with a Senior Day ceremony taking place before tip. The Hawks will then host the No. 8 seed in the CCC Tournament in a CCC Quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21.
