AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Roger Williams University baseball team fell in non-conference play to Ramapo, 2-1, on Tuesday evening at Lake Myrtle Park.
Matt Hynes (Farmingdale, N.Y.) was the starter, striking out 10 batters in six innings, while allowing only three hits and a walk.
Jack Morin (North Andover, Mass.) had a hit in the contest, with an RBI and a walk for the Hawks, while
Trevor Smith added a hit in his only at bat of the day.
The Hawks scored their lone run of the contest in the top of the first inning after
Aidan Hawley (Natick, MAss.) drew a walk to get on first. After a steal by Hawley put him on second, the Hawks used a sacrifice bunt and sacrifice fly to bring Hawley across the plate.
It was a pitchers dual until the sixth inning when Ramapo leveled the score when Tyler Guadagno used a sacrifice bunt attempt, that eventual brought J. Cuba around for the first run. The Following inning a single by Matt Carovillano through the left of the infield brought in Justin Garthaffner for the winning run.
Roger Williams (1-4, 0-0 CCC) will face Ithaca on Wednesday, Mar. 15 at 5 pm.
