BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University softball team fell to non-conference foe UMass Dartmouth on Thursday afternoon, 10-0, on Paolino Field.
The Hawks saw Taylor Myers (East Haven, Conn.) come into the contest pitching 4.2 innings of relief ball. Five Roger Williams hitters recorded a hit in the contest with Kayleigh O'Connor (Southington, Conn.) also adding a walk.
UMass Dartmouth jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a pair of RNI singles in the opening frame, before the Corsairs erupted for five runs in the top half of the second inning. After the Hawks held UMass Dartmouth scoreless for three innings after a grand slam, the Corsairs added three runs in the top of the sixth as they held Roger Williams scoreless.
Roger Williams (7-11, 0-0 CCC) will open up Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Sunday, Apr. 2 at 12 pm against Suffolk in a relocated doubleheader taking place at Emerson. The Hawks will then take on Wentworth on Wednesday, Apr. 5 in a rescheduled contest.
