BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University softball team, dropped tow games to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foe Wentworth on Tuesday, dropping game one to the Leopards 3-1, before falling, 4-0 at Carr Field.
In their opener
Nicole Corey (Dighton, Mass.) pitched six innings, giving up one earned run with seven hits, and one strikeout.
Jaime Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.) brought in the lone Hawks run of the contest driving in
Isabelle Rosado (Central Islip, N.Y.) after both went 1-for-3 at the dish.
In the top of the first the Hawks saw Wells knock a single to right field, brining in Rosado for the lone run of the game. In the bottom of the first inning, the Leopards responded by bringing two across to take a 2-1 lead. The bottom of the sixth inning saw Wentworth tack on one more run, closing out scoring.
In game two,
Natalie Lundari (Flemington, N.J.) took the circle, giving up one earned run, with three hits, three walks, and facing 19 batters. Wells went 2-for-3 at the dish with a double.
The Leopards scored twice in the bottom of the first with both runs scoring on passed balls. In the bottom of the third inning, the Leopards scored again, before closing out scoring in the bottom of the fifth with a bases loaded walk.
Roger Williams (8-16, 1-5 CCC) will travel to face Johnson & Wales on Wednesday, Apr. 12 at 4 pm, before hosting a pair of CCC doubleheaders beginning on Friday, Apr. 14 against Gordon over the weekend.
