PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Roger Williams University baseball team fell in non-conference play on Thursday, dropping a matchup against Rhode Island College 10-7 on Pontarelli Field.
Mike Bogosian (Cranston, R.I.) went 2-for-4 on the day with 3 RBIs and came across to score, while hitting a triple.
Nick Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) went one for three in the contest with a double, bringing in three runs with a double.
The Anchormen struck first scoring in the bottom of the first off, a fielder's choice. The Hawks then responded with a three run double by Sheehan to left center field to clear the bases. Bogosian then hit an RBI single putting the Hawks up 4-1.
Matt Falvey (Walpole, Mass.) followed with a fly out to center field bringing in Bogosian.
RIC added a run in the second, and three in the third inning to level the score at 5-5. In the fourth frame, the Anchormen took the lead with a single to left field taking their second and final lead in the game. The anchormen tacked on four runs in the bottom of the seventh before the Hawks saw Bogosian bring in the final two runs of the game on a triple to right field.
Roger Williams (9-15, 7-1 CCC) will travel to Beverly to take on #6 Endicott on Saturday, Apr. 15 at 12 pm in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) doubleheader. The Hawks will then host conference foe on Salve Regina on Tuesday, Apr. 18 at 3 pm on Paolino Field.
