BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's lacrosse team fell Saturday afternoon to Endicott, 21-13 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Bayside Field.
Ryan Vendetti (Farmington, Conn.) tallied eight points with five goals and three assists, putting six shots on cage, with a caused turnover.
Jack Kester (Londonderry, N.H.) added six points with three goals and three assists, and
Kevin Murphy (Ramsey, N.J.) added two goals and a pair of assists.
On the defensive end,
Kyle Zirn (Chester, N.H.) picked up four ground balls and forced four turnovers in the contest, with
Trevor Brooks (Milford, Mass.) and
Will Railton (Scituate, Mass.) each having a pair of caused turnovers.
After the Gulls struck first 4:32 into the contest, the Hawks saw Vendetti and Murphy combine to level the score. Another goal by Endicott gave the Gulls a 2-1 advantage, before Vendetti and Murphy both found the back of the cage 1:13 apart. Endicott then rattled off five goals to close out the first quarter with a 7-3 lead.
After being outscored 7-3 again in the second quarter, trailing 14-6 at halftime, Roger Williams was outscored 4-2 in the third. In the final frame of the contest, the Hawks held the advantage, outscoring the league leading offense 5-3.
Roger Williams (6-5, 2-2 CCC) will travel to face Gordon on Wednesday, Apr. 12 at 7 pm. The Hawks will then host the University of New England for Senior Day on Saturday, Apr. 15 at 3 pm.
