DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Roger Williams University men's soccer team defeated UMass Dartmouth, 6-0, on Saturday afternoon with a victory over the Corsairs at Cressy Field.
The Corsairs outshot the Hawks 15-12 overall but Roger Williams held a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. UMass Dartmouth had one more corner kick then the Hawks.
Hogan Cain (Nottingham, N.H.) started the match in goal with three saves in his nearly 70 minutes of actions. The Hawks had six different goal scorers in the matchup, with three goals coming off assists.
The Hawks scored the first goal of the matchup just over seven minutes into the contest with
Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) scoring off a pass from
Andre Caceres (Ossining, N.Y.). Just over four minutes later
CJ Sousa (Fall River, Mass.) scored again to put the Hawks up 2-0, after an assist by
Dylan Thomas (Norwalk, Conn.).
In the 27
th minute of action
Max Patenaude (Pepperell, Mass.) scored his first goal of the season, with
Patrick Marino (Wyckoff, N.J.) scoring shortly after in the 33
rd minute, closing the second half with a 4-0 lead.
In the second half,
Spencer Rushnak (Harwick, Mass.) and
Noah Massotti (Douglas, Mass.) each added a goal to close out the victory.
Roger Williams (1-0-1, 0-0-0 CCC) will host Rhode Island College on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 4:00 pm, before hosting New Jersey City on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 1:00 pm. The Hawks will then host Clark on Sunday, Sept. 10, as the middle contest of a five game homestand.
