BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Roger Williams University field hockey team fell to #7 Babson on Thursday evening in non-conference action at MacDowell Field, 8-1.
Abigail Stevens (Brewster, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Hawks, with
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.) picking up the assist.
Babson scored 1:07 into the contest with Brianne McGrath scoring her second goal of the season. Sinead Walsh, then scored for Babson 2:37 later, with the Beavers taking a 2-0 lead. With 2:14 remaining in the first quarter, King put the ball into play off a penalty corner with Stevens firing a shot from the top of the circle.
In the second, Babson put another two goals into the cage, taking a 4-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, Babson had 10 shots, bringing their tally to 19 total for the contest, with 14 of those shots landing on cage.
Babson added a pair of goals in both the third and fourth quarter to secure the victory.
Roger Williams (2-1, 0-0 CCC) will visit Westfield State on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7:00 pm. They will then face off against Wesleyan, Thursday, Sept. 14, down in Middletown, Conn.
