BRISTOL, R.I – The Roger Williams University men's basketball fell, 89-78, in Commonwealth Coastal Conference (CCC) play as they faced Suffolk inside the Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Suffolk controlled the first half going 21-37 to enter the halftime up 53-37. Suffolk's Evan Cook led all first half scorers with 22.
Roger was able to out score the Rams in fast breaks (8-6) and bench points (21-7) which contributed to their biggest scoring run of the game of nine points.
Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) led all Hawk scorers with 26 points to go with one assist, and three rebounds.
Sean Gogolin (Winchester, Mass.) and
Ty Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) both tallied 11 points with Gogolin securing three rebounds, two assists, one assist, and one block. Higgins contributed one rebound and one assist.
Philip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.) scored 10 points, to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Suffolk's' Cook led all scorers with 30 points. The Rams led in points off of turnovers (15-6), points in the paint (36-24), and seconds chance points (16-5) to help secure the win despite the Hawks outscoring the Rams in the second half 41-36.
Roger Williams (9-8, 7-2 CCC) will travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5:30pm before hosting Curry on Saturday, Jan. 27 for senior day at 1pm.
