BRISTOL, R.I – The Roger Williams University women's basketball fell, 73-66, in Commonwealth Coastal Conference (CCC) play as they faced Suffolk inside the Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
The first half saw eight led changes and one tie. Roger out shot Suffolk 15-14 to enter the second half with a 39-34 led.
Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) led all scorers in the first half with 16 points.
Suffolk took control of the third quarter going on a 15-point run to outscore the Hawks 21-12. The Rams were led by Lauren Romito who score a team high 18 points and tallied eight rebounds, four assists, and five blocks.
Coppola was able to add four points in the seconds half to lead all scores with 20 while also notching four rebounds, four assists along with a pair of steals and blocks.
Caroline Elie (Rockland, Mass.) led all scorers with nine rebounds while tallying 16 points, four assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Despite Roger controlling points in the paint (40-24), second chance points (11-6), points off of turnovers (21-11), and fast break points (16-12), Suffolk out scored the Hawks 18-15 in the fourth quarter to beat the Hawks 73-66.
Roger Williams (11-6, 7-2 CCC) will travel to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 5:30pm before hosting Curry on Saturday, Jan. 27 for senior day at 1pm.
