BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's basketball team improved to a five-and-one record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, securing a 106-76 victory over Gordon inside the Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Ty Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 88.9% from the floor and going 5-5 from the three-point line.
Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) tallied 20 points from 9-14 shooting, eight rebounds, and an assist, while
John Ah Kao (Dumont, N.J.) supplied 15 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
Bryce Smith and Sean Quanico led the Fighting Scotts with 16 points each, with Smith recording three rebounds, seven assists, and a steal, while Quanico notched three steals.
Roger controlled the paint with 50 points to Gordon's 36, while also capitalizing on turnovers, outscoring Gordon 22-10. Both teams held even in points off the bench with 39, with Gordon taking the edge in second chance points 12-10.
With a record of 6-7 (5-1 CCC), Roger Williams will face Hartford on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 pm in the Campus Rec Center for their first meeting. The Hawks will then remain at home to battle the University of New England on Saturday, Jan. 13, restarting CCC play.
