BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University women's basketball team maintains an undefeated record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play, securing a 75-60 victory over Gordon inside the Campus Recreation Center Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Katie Galligan (Pembroke, Mass.) led the Hawks with 15 points, surpassing 1000 career points. Galligan also contributed six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) scored 14 points while shooting 50% shooting from the floor, while
Elizabeth Dufrane (Falls Church, Va.) shot 83.3% from the field, securing 11 points, including two buzzer-beaters in the 1st and 3rd quarters. Dufrane also recorded four assists and five steals.
Naomi Nicholson led all scorers for Gordon with 21 points, complemented by five rebounds, five assists, and a steal. Ami Rivera contributed 11 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Roger Williams controlled the game with 38 bench points to Gordon's 13, a 42-28 edge in the paint, and a 14-7 advantage in second chance points. The Hawks capitalized on turnovers, outscoring Gordon 36-13.
With a record of 9-4 (6-0 CCC), Roger Williams will face Hartford on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 5:30 pm in the Campus Rec Center for their first meeting. The Hawks will then remain at home to battle the University of New England on Saturday, Jan. 13, restarting CCC play.
