BIDDEFORD, MAINE – The Roger Williams men's soccer team snapped their four-game losing streak, as they dominated University of New England (UNE) to the tune of 6-0.
The Hawks came out firing on Saturday afternoon, as they scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the game, two of which came in the first two minutes. The action began with
Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.), who netted his second goal of the season on a feed from first year
Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.). The goal was scored just one minute into the game. Just 20 seconds later, Jastrab found
Will Schiffer (Cotuit, Mass.) for his second assist of the game. The goal goes down as Schiffer's second of the season. The action did not stop there, as senior captain
John Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.) got in on the scoring spree, assisted by sophomore
Dylan Thomas (Norwalk, Conn.), sending Roger Williams into the locker room up 3-0.
The second half was more of the same, as the Hawks continued to shut out the Nor'easters, and pile on more goals. They netted three more goals in the second half, scored by
Tyler Jastrab,
Luke McCarthy (Tolland, Conn.), and
Adam McLaughlin (Yarmouth). Jastrab's goal was his fourth of the season, good for the team lead. McCarthy and McLaughlin's goals mark the first of their season, and the first of each of their careers. In net,
Hogan Cain pitched the shutout, recording three saves. The win in Maine snaps a four-game losing streak for the men, and brings them to 2-2 in CNE action.
