Men's Soccer: Hawks Draw with Suffolk on Saturday Afternoon

BOSTON, MASS. – The Roger Williams men's soccer team drew 1-1 with Suffolk on Saturday afternoon in Boston. The tie brings the team to 8-7-3 on the season and 3-3-2 in Conference of New England action.

It was an own goal that did all the scoring for the Hawks in the matchup, as the defensive mistake by Suffolk gave Roger Williams the lead 30 minutes into play. In the first half, the Hawks fired off eight shots to Suffolk's three. Suffolk goalkeeper Nathan Harlow recorded four saves in the half. Roger Williams headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, it was Luke Blawn who netted the equalizer, on a feed from Taj Jenson. The goal came at the 60-minute mark, bringing the score to 1-1. Suffolk let off nine shots in the half, however, could find the back of the net outside of Blawn's goal. Just one shot landed on net for Suffolk outside of the goal. For Roger Williams, they added five more shots in the second frame, three of which landed on net. In total, the Hawks had 13 shots to Suffolk's 12, with eight and two of them landing on net, respectively.

The tie puts Roger Williams at sixth in the conference standings with just one game remaining. They will take on Curry College on Tuesday at 4:00 at Bayside to conclude their regular season.
