Men's Soccer: Hawks Dominate Curry 5-0 in Regular Season Finale

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's soccer team got the win in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, defeating Curry College 5-0 in their final regular season game.

The offensive outbreak by the Hawks will go down as their second highest total (5) on the season, trailing only their six-goal performance at the University of New England. The win on Tuesday also snaps a six weeklong win drought at Bayside Field.

The Hawks drew first blood 13 minutes in the game when Will Schiffer (Cotuit, Mass.) and Tyler Jastrab (Townsend, Mass.) helped find senior captain John Fogarty (Scituate, Mass.), who netted his fourth goal of the season. The assist from Jastrab gives him six on the year, good for the team lead. Schiffer's assist gives him four on the year, which ranks second amoungst the team. Just five minutes later, Jastrab was awarded a penalty shot which he cashed in on for goal number six on the year. The goal sent the Hawks to the half with a 2-0 lead.

In the second frame it was Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass) who got the scoring started on a feed from Fogarty, expanding the lead to 3-0. Next up was Murphy Malone (Cheshire, Conn.), who scored his first goal of the season on a feed from captain Andre Caceres (Ossining, N.Y.). Freshman Louis Hawkins (Norwich, Conn.) capped off the scoring with his second goal of the season from both Jason Salley (Durham, Conn.) and Dylan Thomas (Norwalk, Conn.). The three second half goals brought the total to 5-0. The Hawks fired off 16 shots (10 on goal) to Curry's 3 (one on goal) in the dominant win.

Roger Williams moves to 9-7-3 (4-3-2 CNE) with the win and will wait to find out their first round Conference of New England Matchup. They will begin playoff play on Saturday, Nov. 2.
