Men's Soccer: Hawks Fall to Gordon in CNE Matchup

Box Score BRISTOL, R.I – The Roger Williams men's soccer team fell to Gordon College 3-2 in Saturday's CNE Matchup.

In a high scoring battle to the Hawks standards, the men dropped their second straight conference matchup. The action did not begin until about 30 minutes in, when Luke Lindas of Gordon found the back of the net on a feed from Benny Simpson. In typical Hawks fashion, they responded shortly thereafter, dropping in the equalizer just six minutes later. Senior captain Jack Wildermann scored his second goal of the season, on a feed from Jimmy Keane, which would go down as his first assist of the season. Less than a minute later, Gordon would reclaim the lead, as Samuel Masenheim found Benny Simpson to give Gordon as 2-1 lead heading into the half. In total in the half, the Hawks fired off six shots to the Fighting Scot's eight.

Roger Williams responded early into the second half, when John Fogarty netted his second goal of the season, to even up the score at two. Both sides played the next 30 minutes even, until Luke Lindas put in his second goal of the game, pushing Gordon ahead 3-2. It was Cole Levis who provided him the assist. The goal, which was put in with just 10 minutes to play, would go on to be the game winner, giving the Fighting Scot's as 3-2 win at Bayside Field.

Individually, the standouts for the Hawks were Wildermann and Fogarty, as both senior captains scored their season goals of the season. Jimmy Keane recorded his first assist of the season on Wildermann's score. In net, Hogan Cain recorded five saves for the Hawks.
