MILTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's tennis team swept the Colonels of Curry, 7-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) play on Tuesday afternoon.
The match started with a sweep in doubles play,
Gianna Ferraro and
Valentina Abarca defeated their opponents 6-0, with
Izzy Pecora and
Ella Mancini defeating their foes, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles. No. 3 doubles saw
Gracie McCarthy and
Gabrielle Petroniro earning a 6-1 win in their match.
Ferraro earned a win at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-0, while Pecora earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Abarca then picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles with No. 4 singles earning a 6-1, 6-1 win by Mancini for the Hawks.
Adriana Palmieri earned a No. 5 singles win 6-1, 6-0 with Petroniro earning a 6-0, 6-0 win in her No. 6 singles win.
Roger Williams will close out their regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 4:00 pm when they host Western New England on Senior Day.
