BEVERLY, MASS. – No. 5 Roger Williams is set to travel to Beverly, Mass to take on No. 1 Endicott on Wednesday, Nov. 6 in the Conference of New England (CNE) semifinal matchup.
After a convincing 3-0 victory over No. 4 Hartford in the first round of the CNE playoffs, the Roger Williams men's soccer team advanced to take on the one seeded Gulls in the semi-finals of the CNE tournament. In the first-round matchup on Saturday, the Hawks outshot the opponent 12-1, holding off Hartford from putting a single shot on senior captain goalkeeper
Hogan Cain (Nottingham, N.H.). On the offensive side it was Rookie of the Year
Tyler Jastrab (Towsend, Mass.) who netted his seventh goal of the season to get the scoring going for the Hawks. Junior
Liam Blaisdell (Plymouth, Mass.) and first year
Louis Hawkins (Norwich, Conn.) followed suit, each scoring goals of their own, putting the game out of reach, 3-0. Jastrab and senior captain
Jason Salley provided the assists for Blaisdell and Hawkins' goals.
The Hawks will have their hands full on Wednesday against the one seeded Gulls, a team that went undefeated (9-0) in CNE play in the regular season. The teams last loss came on Sep. 24 against Colby, which saw them fall 1-0.
The semi-final matchup will take place at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. In the other semi-final matchup, No. 3 Western New England will travel to No. 2 Suffolk. The winners on Wednesday will matchup on Saturday, Nov. 9 in the Conference of New England Championship.
