Softball: Hawks Drop Two on Day Three

Leesburg, Fla. - The Roger Williams University softball team continues their spring break trip, dropping both games 2-3 to Hood College and Marywood college 5-1.

Against Hood College, Jamie Wells (Castle Rock, Colo.) RBI in the top of the third put the Hawks up early. Hood's Gottleib evened the score in the bottom of the third after advancing to third on a wild pitch resulting in her scoring on a throwing error on the catcher, Taylor Howell (Sandwich, Mass.). Howell battled back in the top of the seventh for a RBI down the left field line to put the Hawks up 2-1. The Blazers stormed back in the bottom of the seventh with Pfleiger's RBI to tie the game and Gottleib's walk off RBI up the middle to make the final score 3-2.

Against Marywood College, the Pacers struck first in the top of the fifth. Davis started things with a RBI before Grill scored on a pass ball to them up 2-0. Marywood continued their scoring with McNally securing an RBI with a single to right field. A pair of walked batters gave Kmak and Hanley a RBI each to give the Pacers the 5-0 lead. Entering the top of the fifth, Nicolette Fraser (Swampscott, Mass) starting things off for the Hawks with a single to left. Kasey Ruo (Smithfield, R.I.) singled to center to advance Fraser to second putting her in scoring position. Hailey Williams (Vernon, Conn.) RBI to center field scored Fraser from second base to put the Hawks on the board. Kayleigh O'Connor (Southington, Conn.) flied out to center field and Shannon Strarratt (Lake George, N.Y.) popped up to second base to end the inning for the Hawks while also ending the scoring for both teams with a final score of 5-1.

Roger Williams (3-3 0-0 CCC) will play on Thursday, Mar. 14 at 11:15 am against Salem State before battling St. Norbert at 1:30pm. The Hawks will then play Plymouth State on March 15th at 9am.
