Baseball: Hawks Drop Contest Keene in Rain-Shortened Matchup

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University baseball team lost 10-5 to Kenne State in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon at the Owl Athletic Complex in seven innings due to inclement weather.

Conor Quinlan (Taunton, Mass.) started the game on the mound for the Hawks, lasting 2.1 innings and giving up seven runs, four of which were earned. Ben Emero (Medway, Mass.) and Danny Powers (Mansfield, Mass.) came in for the Hawks in relief, each putting up a scoreless outing.

The Roger Williams offense put up six hits in the game. Jack Morin (North Andover, Mass.) went 2-4, with two doubles and one RBI. Ty Cali (Taunton, Mass.) went 1-1 with two walks and one sacrifice fly and scored three runs for the Hawks.

The Hawks started the game strong in the first inning. Morin doubled down the left field line, allowing Cali to score the game's first run. Roger Williams added two more runs in the second. Mike Uriati (Barrington, R.I.) doubled to left field to bring in one run, and Cali followed with a sacrifice fly to extend the Hawks' lead to 3-0.

Kenne State responded in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs to cut into the Hawks' lead. They went on to score six more runs in the third inning, giving the Owls a 8-3 lead.

A sacrifice fly by London Camelo (Bristol, R.I.) in the fifth inning cut into the Owls' lead, but Kenne State responded with two more runs in the sixth to give them a 10-4 lead. Roger Williams would add one more run in the seventh on an error, but the game would be called after seven innings due to weather.
