Men's Lacrosse: Hawks concede to Endicott in Saturday matchup

BEVERLY, Mass.- The Roger Williams University Hawks Men's Lacrosse team conceded to Endicott on Saturday afternoon, losing the matchup, 11-16, at Hempstead Stadium.
 
The Hawks started the contest off with a quick goal from Riley Spellman (Manchester, N.H.) within the first minute of the game. Spellman quickly put away another goal before assisting Matt Hemmert (Braintree, Mass.) to get his first goal of the game, bringing the score to 3-0 to the Hawks. Endicott closed out the first quarter with three goals of their own to tie the teams, 3-3, going into the second period.
 
At the beginning of the second quarter, the Hawks struggled to get shots off, but freshman Eric Brooks (Milford, Mass.) finally hit the back of the net, gaining another point for Roger Williams. In the third quarter, Endicott went on a shooting spree and got consecutive goals starting with two from Cam Fernandez. Nearing the end of the period, the Hawks battle to close the gap that Endicott had made with another goal from Spellman making the score, 5-11. Senior Matt Halpin (Hanover, Mass.) quickly followed with another goal for the Hawks.
 
Going into the final period of the game, the Hawks were several goals behind with Endicott continuing to launch shots at goal. Hemmert scored three goals for the Hawks this period and brought the score up to 9-14 but Endicott managed to put away four more goals to secure the victory.
 
The Hawks (11-4, 4-2 CCC) will host Nichols College on Tuesday, Apr 16th at 4:00 pm at home on Bayside Field for their last conference matchup of the season before traveling to play Hartford on Saturday, Apr. 20th at 12:00 pm.
