Men’s Tennis: Hawks Season Comes to Close in CCC Semifinal Loss to Gulls

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University men's tennis team saw their season come to a close on Wednesday wit a 5-4 loss in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Semifinals to the Gulls of Endicott at the RWU Tennis Courts.
 
In doubles play, the No. 1 doubles match saw Antonio Marsallo and Conrad Kadel combined for an 8-6 victory over Ryan Carroll (Holden, Mass.) and Will Hurlbut (Marion, Mass.). Julian Richtrarich and Hudson De Risi did the same at No. 2 doubles over Camden Poitras (Londonderry, N.H.) and Konnor Collins (Broken Arrow, Okla.) with Roger Williams taking the No. 3 doubles match with Johnny Baldyga (Simsbury, Conn.) and Matt Glassman (West Hartford, Conn.) earning an 8-6 win.
 
In singles play, the Hawks opened with a win by Hurlbut over Oliver Pope at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-3, before Collins gave the Hawks the lead for the first time of the match with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 win. Carroll then earned a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 win at No. 1 singles to take a 4-2 match lead.
 
Endicott responded with wins by De Risi, 6-3, 7-6 and Marsallo with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles over Baldyga, but George Danes picked up the decisive point of the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-3 victory over Poitras in a hard fought match.
 
Roger Williams (13-5, 6-1 CCC) close out their season in the CCC Semifinals.  This is the first season since 2021-22 that the Hawks have missed the Championship Match, while reaching the CCC Tournament Semifinals in tournament since 2001-02.
