HARTFORD, Conn. – It took two overtime periods to conclude the contest at the Roger Williams University field hockey team fell to Trinity, 5-4, in non-conference action at Robin L. Sheppard Field on Saturday.
 
The Bantams outshot the Hawks 32-22, with an 18-14 advantage in shots on goal. Trinity also had a 22-14 edge in corners, while Roger Williams picked up an extra green card in the match.
 
For Trinity, Aly Janssen recorded a pair of goals and an assist, while Izzy Deveney, Maeve Hymovitz, and Nina Falkson each scored. Hayley Gable made eight saves while allowing four goals.
 
The Hawks saw goal contributions from 
Chelsea King (Schenectady, N.Y.), 
Maddy Monahan (Bristol, N.H.), and 
Hannah Timbrouck (Kingston, N.Y.). 
Hannah Brazil (East Sandwich, Mass.) came into the contest and made 12 saves while allowing three goals.
 
The match got off to a hot start, as Janssen struck first for Trinity 2:04 into the contest, scoring on the first shot of the game. King then answered leveling the score at one apiece. 51 seconds later, Nina Falkson snuck one by 
Jill Haudenshield (Sykesville, Md.) as Trinity took a 2-1 lead.
 
After the halftime break, the Hawks leveled the score 2:31 into the second half, when Timbrouck scored off a rebound from a shot by Monahan. Hymovigtz then gave Trinity their third lead of the game when Hymovitz scored taking a 3-2 lead 3:03 later. King scored later in the quarter to level the match at three, heading into the final quarter of regulation.
 
In the fourth, quarter, Deveney earned a goal of a penalty stroke with 3:11 remaining, but the Hawks continued to apply pressure, scoring off a penalty corner when Monahan scored with seven seconds remaining in regulation, forcing overtime.
 
Trinity won the game in the second overtime period, when Aly Janssen scored off a second opportunity after a save by Brazil, was deflected.
 
Roger Williams (7-3, 1-0 CNE) will face #15 MIT on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 pm on Bayside Field. The Hawks will then host Endicott in a rematch of last season's conference title game on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 12:00 pm.
