Men's Basketball: Hawks Reach Triple Digits, Handle Gordon in CNE Tilt

WENHAM, MASS. – The Roger Williams men's basketball team downed Gordon College, putting up 110 points for the second time in three games. The win moves the men to 10-5 overall and 5-3 in Conference of New England play.
 
It was a tail of two halves in the victory, as Gordon College was able to jump out to a lead early on in the first half. They expanded their lead as large as nine with 10 minutes to play in the first half. The Hawks were able to make a run of their own, tying the game up at 39 with nine minutes to play, before eventually taking over the lead 51-48 with 20 seconds to play in the half. A Gordon layup at the buzzer brought the score to 51-50 in favor of the Hawks to conclude the first half.
 
Out of the half Roger Williams wasted no time, making a 13-2 run to open the frame and never looking back. They would go on to hold their double digit lead for the entirety of the second half, with it growing as large as 28 to conclude the game.
 
Individually, Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) led the men in the victory, netting 28 points on 11-15 shooting from the field, and 4-6 shooting from three-point range. Annus added two assists, two rebounds and a steal in just 27 minutes of play. Phillip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.) and Ty Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) joined in on the scoring barrage, totaling 16 and 15 points respectively. The two guards combined for 7-10 shooting from three-point range. Higgins added three steals as well. For Gordon, Alex Daniel led the way with 21 points and four assists.
 
Roger Williams will travel to Hartford to Hartford for their next matchup, which will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 22. Following Hartford, they will travel back on home and look to avenge their loss against  Nichols from earlier in the season.
