DUDLEY, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team were defeated by Nichols, 5-2, on Thursday afternoon in a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup.

In doubles action, the order of finish was numerical, Nichols' Kamora Helton and Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi earned a 6-0 win over Valentina Abarca (Riobamba, Ecuador) and Megan Bache (Westbrook, Conn.). Charis Volger and Cora Brosch secured the doubles point for Nichols, defeating Izzy Pecora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and Ella Mancini (Middlebury, Conn.), 6-1. Rounding out the No. 3 spot, Gabrielle Petroniro (Wolcott, Conn.) and Adriana Palmieri (Southington, Conn.), defeated Erin Helly and Catherine Pollock, 6-2.

In singles, Nichols' Volger defeated Pecora 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, ahead of Palmieri putting the Hawks on the board with a 6-0, 6-2 win. Nichols secured the win as Gonzalez Vallardi defeated Mancini 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 and Helton defeated Abarca 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1.

At No. 4 singles Bache earned a hard-fought 7-5, 0-6, 10-3 win over Nichols' Broche. Rounding out the match at No. 6 singles, Petroniro lost to the Bison's Cassie Rice in three sets.

Roger Williams (12-2, 7-2 CNE) will host Suffolk on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 12:00 pm to round out the regular season. Nichols will travel to UNE on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 12:00 pm to round out their season.
