Field Hockey: King's Hat Trick Leads the Hawks to First Ever Win Over MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Chelsea King (Albany, N.Y.) scored three times to lead the Roger Williams University field hockey team to a 4-1 road win over MIT on Wednesday afternoon at Jack Barry Field.

Roger Williams outshot MIT 11–17, while both teams registered nine shots on goal. The Hawks earned four penalty corners to the Engineers' 12. King led all players with four shots and three goals, while Hannah Timbrouck added one goal. Maddy Monahan (Bristol, N.H.) recorded one assist, and Hannah Brazil (Sandwich, Mass.) finished with eight saves in goal.

King opened the scoring midway through the first quarter before adding two more goals in the second and fourth frames, marking her third hat trick of the season. Timbrouck added the other goal for the Hawks, striking just six minutes into the contest to give RWU an early lead.

Monahan picked up an assist on King's second goal, while MIT's lone goal came late in the third quarter from Jane Tortorella, assisted by Sierra Kim, cutting the deficit to 3-1 before King sealed the victory with her third tally of the day in the closing minutes.

Roger Williams capitalized on its chances, scoring on four of nine shots on goal, while MIT held a 17-11 advantage in total shots and 12-4 in penalty corners. Goalie Maeve Zimmer recorded five saves for the Engineers.

Roger Willilams (14-5, 6-1 CNE) will host a CNE Semifinal on Wednesday, Nov. 5 on Bayside Field.
