Women’s Soccer: No. 5 RWU Falls to No. 4 UNE in First Round of CNE Tournament

BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Roger Williams Women's Soccer team fell to the University of New England, 2-0, in the first round of the Conference of New England (CNE) Tournament.

The Nor'Easters outshot the Hawks 16-4, with UNE having seven on goal and RWU with two on goal. UNE also led on corners, 3-2. The Nor'Easters had two yellow cards on the match.

In the first half, UNE had a corner within the first two minutes. Sinead Deegan (Bethel, Conn.) took the first shot of the day near the end of the first half, missing high. The Hawk defense was rock solid and kept the Nor'Easters at bay, heading into halftime with the score at 0-0.

In the second half, UNE struck first in the 72nd minute as Emily Talbot scored, assisted by Karley Belisle and Jill Hodgson. The Nor'Easters then lengthened their lead as Karley Belisle found the back of the net, making the score 2-0. For the Hawks, Mya D'Antonio (Marshfield, Mass.), Camryn Dickinson (Quaker Hill, Conn.), and Eryn Parlin (New Sharon, Maine) each fired off a shot in the second half but could not break through UNE keeper Haley Coombs.

Defensively, RWU keeper Coco Marrelli (Fairfield, Conn.) played 90-minutes and had five saves on the day.
 
The Roger Williams Women's Soccer team ends their 2025 season with a overall record of 10-3-6 and a 5-1-4 record in the CNE.
