Men's Basketball: Miller's Fourth Double-Double of the Season Leads Hawks By Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's basketball team continued their winning streak on Monday afternoon, beating Anna Marie 95-81, inside the Fuller Activities Center.

The Hawks shot 51.4 percent from the floor, knocking down 34.5 percent of their shots from long range. Anna Maria was held to 48.4 percent shooting, and 23.5 percent from distance, with 52 of their points coming from inside the paint. The Hawks had 21 points off turnovers, with the AMCATS having 14.

The Hawks were led once again by Finn Miller's (Stamford, Conn.) hot hand as he led the team in scoring with 28 points, scoring 20 or more points for the fourth time in six games, and had his third double-double of the season, pulling down 11 rebounds. Ryan Higgins (Boston, Mass.) led the team in three-pointers shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. Ryan Hammarlund (Southington, Conn.) rounded out the Hawks scoring with 17 points and 5 assists. Miller and Hammarlund also each had three steals along with Phillip Sughrue (Winchester, Mass.). Higgins also had 2 steals to bring the Hawks to 11 total steals in the contest.

Anna Maria was led by Logan Talbot and Lucas Miglionico who led the team with 15 and 10 points respectively. However both Talbot converted on 6-of-11 attempts from the floor and Patrick Freeman tallied four-of-5 field goal attempts on efficient shooting nights.

With 3:42 remaining in the opening half, the Hawks and AMCATs were tied at 32, but the Hawks went on a 14-2 scoring run to end the half, taking a 46-34 lead into the break.

The Hawks let their defense do the talking tonight as they held Anna Marie to just 23.5% from three and 48.4% from the field. The AMCATs were held to only five made threes, with four of them coming in the second period.

The Hawks opened the second half, extending their lead to as many as 19, leading 65-46 5:19 into the half. Anna Maria was able to climb back to within five, with the Hawks leading 72-67 with 10:03 remaining in the half, but the Hawks offense found it's rhythm again and expanded the lead to double-digits again, maintaining a two digit lead the rest of the contest.

Roger Williams (3-3, 1-0 CNE) push their winning streak to three with the win, win and will host Connecticut College on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 4:00 pm in the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium.
