DARTMOUTH, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team controlled much of the night and held a double-digit second-half lead, but UMass Dartmouth had a strong fourth quarter to defeat RWU, 78-71, on Tuesday night.
RWU finished with a 36–33 rebounding edge and forced 20 turnovers, turning defensive pressure into transition chances. The Hawks also posted 40.0 percent shooting from the field, including a dominant 17-5 advantage on the offensive glass.
RWU went just 11-for-19 from the free throw line and 4-for-15 from beyond the arc, while UMass Dartmouth shot 28-for-32 at the line and 10-for-17 from three. Roger Williams also posted 15 assists to the Corsairs' 10, but UMass Dartmouth capitalized on its trips to the line to erase RWU's largest lead and seal the win late.
Lilli Clark (Willimantic, Conn.) powered RWU with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting and 10 rebounds for her second double-double on the season.
Sophia Coppola (Madison, Conn.) added 12 points and seven rebounds, while
