Men's Basketball: Hawks Historic Three Point Night Help Them Cruise Past Hartford

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams men's basketball team defeated Hartford 101-53 on Tuesday evening in the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium. The dominant win can be credited to the Hawks lights out shooting from distance, setting a new program record for three pointers made with 25.
 
In a battle of the Hawks, it was Roger Williams who controlled the evening, jumping out to quick 15-7 lead over the course of the five minutes of the matchup. Their lead would continue to expand as the half went on. With two minutes to play in first frame, Roger Williams held a 17-point lead, before tacking on another 12-1 run to close out the first half. Their late run would give them a 28-point lead heading into the locker room. The Hawks would knock down 16 threes in the half, holding a 54-26 lead. The second half was more of the same for Roger Williams, as they would add another nine threes to their total, scoring 47 points in the process. Their 101 points go down as their fifth time this season crossing the triple digit threshold.
 
Individually, Mac Annus (Belmont, Mass.) led the way in the scoring barrage, totaling 27 points on 7-12 three-point shooting. Ryan Higgins (Boston, Mass.) added five three pointers of his own, to go along with nine rebounds. Joey Dwyer (Pembroke, Mass) would chip in 12 points of his own in just five minutes of play, shooting 4-5 from long distance in the process. Finn Miller (Stamford, Conn.) added a team-high 11 rebounds and six assists in the win as well. For Hartford, Troy Santos paced the men in the scoring department, tallying 14 points to go along with four assists.
 
Following the historic win, the Hawks move to 15-7 overall and 10-5 in Conference of New England action. The men will remain at home to take on Gordon College on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. The matchup will take place at 1:00 PM.
